The All Progressives Congress (APC) has rescheduled its governorship primary elections in Bauchi and Kwara states to Friday, May 22, 2026, and shifted the State House of Assembly primaries for Maradun I and Maradun II constituencies in Zamfara State to Sunday, May 24, 2026.
In a statement released on Thursday evening, the party announced that its National Working Committee (NWC) approved the changes after wide consultations with key stakeholders across the affected states. The APC explained that the adjustments are aimed at strengthening logistical arrangements and upholding internal democratic standards ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to the statement, “The decision was approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) following consultations with relevant stakeholders and in furtherance of the Party’s commitment to ensuring transparent, orderly, peaceful, and credible primary election process.” The party leadership added that it remains committed to providing a level playing field for all aspirants and ensuring that outcomes of the primaries reflect the will of its members.
The APC clarified that the rescheduling applies strictly to the governorship primaries in Bauchi and Kwara states, as well as the House of Assembly primaries for Maradun I and Maradun II constituencies in Zamfara. It stressed that no other primary election dates were affected, urging members and aspirants in other states and constituencies to proceed with preparations based on previously released timetables.
