The Igbo Heroes and Icons Foundation has endorsed former Anambra State Governor, , as the South-East consensus candidate for the 2027 presidential election, citing his leadership record, integrity, and commitment to fiscal discipline.
The endorsement was announced by the Foundation’s National Coordinator, Chinedu Nsofor, who said the decision reflects the collective aspiration of the Igbo people and the need to promote equity and inclusiveness in Nigeria’s political leadership.
The group praised Obi’s tenure as governor of Anambra State, noting that he left office with no debt burden, settled outstanding financial obligations, and handed over savings to his successor. It described his administration as a model of prudent financial management and accountability.
The Foundation also argued that the South-East remains the only major geopolitical zone yet to produce a democratically elected president since 1999, stressing that allowing the region to occupy the nation’s highest office would promote national unity and fairness.
According to the group, Obi’s background in business and his emphasis on production, agriculture, and industrial growth make him well-positioned to address Nigeria’s economic challenges and drive sustainable development.
The Foundation called on political parties and Nigerians across ethnic, religious, and regional lines to support Obi’s presidential ambition, describing him as a credible leader capable of steering the country toward economic recovery and national progress.
