The Antigua and Barbuda Investment Authority (ABIA) has issued an urgent public warning over fraudulent activities involving the unauthorized use of its name, logo, and brand identity on social media platforms.
The Authority said scammers are impersonating ABIA on Facebook and potentially other platforms, promoting fake investment schemes and attempting to solicit money from unsuspecting members of the public.
ABIA clarified that it does not request funds, promote investment opportunities, or engage individuals through social media messages such as Facebook or WhatsApp. It stressed that any such communications are fraudulent and should be treated as scams.
The agency also noted that its official website, www.investantiguabarbuda.org, is currently experiencing intermittent technical issues, which are being investigated by its technical team. However, it warned the public not to rely on unofficial links or suspicious online platforms claiming to represent the Authority.
ABIA urged members of the public to remain vigilant, verify all information through official channels, and report any suspicious activity to relevant authorities.
The Authority reaffirmed its commitment to protecting the public and maintaining the integrity of Antigua and Barbuda’s investment environment.
