The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has criticised Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru, over remarks allegedly threatening to “consume” opposition members, describing the statement as inflammatory and capable of heightening political tension.
Addressing a press conference in Abuja, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Haruna Jungudo, accused the governor of focusing on political attacks instead of governance. He also faulted attempts to link the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, to Ebonyi’s political developments, insisting the governor should be accountable to the people of the state.
The party urged security agencies to take note of the governor’s alleged comments and called for the protection of its members and supporters ahead of the 2027 elections.
Meanwhile, the PDP inaugurated its Female Youth Wing as part of efforts to strengthen grassroots mobilisation for the 2027 general elections. Party leaders said the new structure would focus on mobilising female youths nationwide to boost voter participation and expand the party’s support base.
