The South East Development Commission (SEDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Enugu State Government to kick-start the South East Agro Development Programme, a regional initiative designed to boost agricultural productivity, strengthen food security, attract private investment, and create sustainable jobs.
The agreement marks the first state-level implementation of the programme, following months of joint planning, stakeholder consultations, and technical assessments. The initiative is expected to be expanded across the five South East states.

According to the Commission, the programme will be driven through partnerships with state governments, the private sector, development partners, financial institutions, research bodies, and host communities to build an integrated agro-industrial ecosystem capable of unlocking the region’s agricultural potential and driving inclusive economic growth.
