The Ebonyi State Government has dismissed reports of a rift between Governor Francis Nwifuru and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, describing the claims as misleading and politically motivated.

In a statement, the Commissioner for Information and State Orientation, Ikeuwa Omebeh, said Governor Nwifuru never threatened Wike during the June 15 APC endorsement rally in Abakaliki.

According to the commissioner, the governor’s remarks were directed at opposition elements allegedly spreading false claims in Wike’s name, including allegations that President Bola Tinubu had handed Ebonyi State to the PDP.

Omebeh explained that Nwifuru’s use of the word “consume” was a metaphor, warning that anyone who violates the law would face legal consequences, and not a threat against the FCT minister.

He maintained that Nwifuru and Wike enjoy a cordial relationship based on mutual respect, accusing factions of the PDP of attempting to create unnecessary political tension.

The state government also reaffirmed that Ebonyi remains firmly under the APC, insisting that opposition efforts to undermine the ruling party ahead of the 2027 general elections would not succeed.
