Anambra State has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting women’s participation in politics and governance, as Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim represented Governor Chukwuma Soludo at the 2026 APGA National Women’s Summit in Abuja.
The summit, held at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre, was themed “Advancing Women’s Inclusion in Politics and Governance” and brought together political leaders, policymakers and women from across the country to discuss strategies for increasing women’s representation in leadership and decision-making.
Speaking on behalf of Governor Soludo, Dr. Ibezim emphasized that women remain the foundation of every society and play a critical role in nation-building.

He noted that empowering women translates to stronger families, thriving communities and sustainable national development.
According to the Deputy Governor, the Soludo administration remains committed to implementing policies and programmes that promote gender inclusion, women’s empowerment and equal opportunities in governance.
He reaffirmed the support of the Anambra State Government for the vision of the APGA Women’s Wing and other initiatives aimed at expanding women’s participation in politics and public service.
The summit provided a platform for stakeholders to deliberate on practical measures for removing barriers to women’s political participation and strengthening inclusive governance across Nigeria.
