Pentecostal clerics across the South-East have been urged to continue praying for Nigeria and its leaders as the country navigates prevailing socio-economic and political challenges.
The call was made during a meeting between the South-East chapter of the Renewed Hope for Greater Nigeria (RHGN) and representatives of Pentecostal churches from the five South-East states in Awka, Anambra State.
Speaking after the meeting, the Deputy National Leader of RHGN for the South-East, Mazi Franklin Ngoforo, said the engagement formed part of the group’s consultations with critical stakeholders in the region ahead of the 2027 general election.
Ngoforo described the Church as a vital institution in promoting peace, national unity and democratic values, noting that the meeting provided an opportunity to deliberate on issues affecting the South-East and the nation at large.
He also highlighted some Federal Government initiatives in the region, including the establishment of the South East Development Commission, increased federal allocations to states, and ongoing discussions on state policing and other governance reforms.
According to him, the group is extending its consultations to traditional rulers, market leaders, professionals and youth groups to encourage wider participation in national development.
Speaking on behalf of the clerics, Reverend Gilbert Umennadili of God’s Love Revival Ministries Incorporated said Christians have a biblical responsibility to pray for those in authority and remain law-abiding citizens.
He called on churches across the South-East to intensify prayers for Nigeria, expressing confidence that the country’s challenges can be overcome through unity, collective efforts and divine guidance.
The meeting attracted representatives of Pentecostal churches from the five South-East states.
