The Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, has credited the rise in the state’s Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) from about ₦84 billion in 2023 to over ₦200 billion to the leadership of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori and reforms by the Delta State Internal Revenue Service (DSIRS).
In a statement issued in Asaba, Oghenesivbe said the achievement reflects the success of the Governor’s M.O.R.E. Agenda, particularly its emphasis on fiscal sustainability and economic diversification.
He commended the Executive Chairman of DSIRS, Hon. Solomon Ighrakpata, alongside the Board, management and staff, for driving technology-based tax reforms, expanding the tax net, improving compliance and blocking revenue leakages without increasing taxes.
According to him, the improved revenue has strengthened the state’s capacity to fund infrastructure, healthcare, education, agriculture, security and other development projects.
Oghenesivbe also welcomed the recent commendation of Delta State by the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), describing it as recognition of the state’s transparent revenue administration and sound fiscal management.
He urged taxpayers to continue supporting the state’s reforms, expressing confidence that sustained transparency and innovation would further boost Delta’s economic growth and fiscal stability.
