Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has commissioned the NASENI Skills Acquisition and Empowerment Centre in Owerri North Local Government Area to enhance youth empowerment and entrepreneurship in the state.
The project, facilitated by Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, representing Imo East Senatorial District, with support from the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), is designed to equip young people with practical vocational and technical skills.
The centre will provide specialised training in solar installation and maintenance, graphic design and printing, phone repairs, fisheries and aquaculture, with the aim of promoting self-reliance, job creation and economic productivity.
The commissioning ceremony was attended by the wife of the governor, Barrister Chioma Uzodimma, alongside other government officials and stakeholders.
Governor Uzodimma described the initiative as a major step toward building a skilled workforce, fostering innovation and expanding economic opportunities for youths across Imo State.
The project is also expected to support the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda by promoting sustainable development, entrepreneurship and inclusive economic growth.
