An Enugu Air aircraft on Thursday skidded off the runway after landing at Benin Airport, with all 67 passengers and five crew members safely evacuated without injuries.
The Embraer E170 aircraft, with registration number 5N-ENR, landed at approximately 1:57 p.m. UTC when the runway excursion occurred.
In a statement, Enugu Air confirmed that the aircraft experienced a runway incursion after landing but assured the public that all passengers and crew members disembarked safely and that no casualties were recorded.
The airline said the aircraft has been secured, while the relevant aviation authorities have been notified and have commenced an assessment to determine the cause of the incident.
Enugu Air noted that the occurrence may result in temporary adjustments to some flight schedules, adding that affected passengers will be contacted and provided with the necessary assistance.
The airline reaffirmed that the safety of its passengers, crew and operations remains its highest priority and pledged to provide further updates as investigations progress.
