The G-17 for Peter Mbah, a grassroots political mobilisation group, has concluded its tour of the 17 Local Government Areas of Enugu State with a grand finale in Nkanu East Local Government Area, where party stakeholders, community leaders and supporters pledged support for Governor Peter Mbah and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The event, held at the Nkanu East Local Government Headquarters in Amagunze, also marked the inauguration of the group’s executives across the state’s 17 local government areas, 260 wards and polling units.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Nkanu East Local Government Council and Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Enugu State Chapter, Hon. Okechukwu Edeh, described G-17 as a formidable grassroots political structure and commended its mobilisation efforts across the state.
He pledged continued collaboration with the group to mobilise support for Governor Peter Mbah and APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
Hon. Edeh also highlighted ongoing development projects in Nkanu East, including the construction of a 200,000-capacity civic hall, road projects and the completion of the Ugbawka-Nara Bridge, which he attributed to the development vision of the current administration.
Also speaking, the member representing Nkanu East State Constituency, Hon. Okey Mbah, commended the leadership of G-17 for strengthening grassroots political mobilisation, while the APC Chairmanship Candidate for Nkanu East, Engr. Mike Ogbuekwe, pledged to work closely with the group to advance the party’s objectives.
The Personal Assistant to the Enugu State Governor and President of the Tomorrow Is Here Movement (THM), Tony Okonkwo, also applauded the group’s organisational structure, describing it as a strong platform for grassroots engagement.
Representatives of the APC leadership in Enugu State, including the State Organising Secretary, Engr. Onyi Odibe, Deputy State Chairman, Peace Patrick, State Woman Leader, Mrs. Esther Edeh, and the South-East APC Women Leader, Dr. Oby Ajih, commended the group’s efforts and encouraged members to sustain the mobilisation drive.
In his keynote address, the Convener of G-17, Chief Chinedu Mbah, urged the newly inaugurated executives to begin grassroots mobilisation across polling units, wards and communities by engaging residents on the programmes and achievements of political leaders ahead of the 2027 elections.
The event concluded with the inauguration of the Nkanu East Local Government, Ward and Polling Unit Executives, who pledged to commence grassroots mobilisation across the council area in preparation for the next general election.
