The traditional ruler of Nnewi, HRH Igwe Dr. K.O.N. Orizu III, has reaffirmed support for Nnewichi community’s bid to produce the next Chairman of Nnewi North Local Government Area ahead of the August 29 local government elections in Anambra State.

Speaking while receiving the Convener of the Nnewi Solution Team, Chief Gabriel Chukwuma, and his delegation at his palace, the monarch expressed confidence that justice and fairness would prevail in line with Nnewi’s long-standing rotational leadership arrangement among its four communities Otolo, Uruagu, Umudim and Nnewichi.

Igwe Orizu stated that the issue would be resolved before the end of the week, expressing optimism that Nnewichi would be given the opportunity to produce the next council chairman.

Addressing members of the Nnewi Solution Team during its monthly meeting, Chief Chukwuma reiterated his commitment to ensuring equity in the leadership selection process, insisting that Nnewichi should not be denied its turn under the rotational arrangement.

Chukwuma, who hails from Umudim community, said the movement enjoys the backing of Nnewi indigenes in the diaspora and is determined to promote justice, fairness and unity in the industrial town.

He commended Igwe Orizu for maintaining his position on the rotational principle and pledged that the group would continue to advocate for what it described as the rightful emergence of a candidate from Nnewichi.

The meeting was attended by the member representing Nnewi North Constituency in the Anambra State House of Assembly, Hon. Augustine Ike, former Chairman of Nsuko-Ora Nnewi, Major Ben Ngonadi (Rtd.), and other community stakeholders, who also expressed support for equity and peaceful resolution of the issue ahead of the council election.
