Atlético Madrid manager Diego Simeone has revealed that Julián Alvarez is unlikely to feature in the club’s upcoming game, with the Argentine forward yet to reach the physical condition required to return to action.
Simeone addressed Alvarez’s fitness ahead of the match, explaining that Atlético’s medical and coaching staff do not believe the striker is currently ready to play.
“We don’t believe Julián Alvarez is in the right condition to play or take part in tomorrow’s game,” Simeone said.
The Atlético boss, however, remains hopeful that Alvarez can make significant progress in the coming days and move closer to a return.
“Hopefully, over these next four days, he’ll make further progress and we’ll be closer to where we want him to be,” Simeone added.
Alvarez’s absence would be a significant blow for Atlético, with the club continuing to manage his recovery carefully rather than risk rushing him back before he is fully ready.
Simeone will now hope the forward responds positively over the next few days and can return to the squad once he reaches the required level of fitness.
