The IYKON Global Foundation for Child, Youth Care and Human Rights Defence says it will unveil what it describes as evidence-based findings on the performance and achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru.
The founder and President of the foundation, Ambassador Ephraim Ikechukwu Nwonu, disclosed this while briefing journalists in Abakaliki, ahead of a two-day workshop scheduled for September 7 and 8.
Nwonu said the workshop would present citizens with what the organisation described as verifiable information on government projects, policies and interventions, to enable them make informed decisions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He said the foundation would also present its assessment of Federal Government interventions in the South-East, including road infrastructure, development projects and federal appointments.
According to Nwonu, Ebonyi State was selected as the foundation’s pilot state in the South-East after an extensive assessment of government programmes and projects.
He said the organisation visited the state’s 13 Local Government Areas to gather what it described as first-hand information on projects and programmes implemented by the Nwifuru administration.
Nwonu maintained that the exercise was not a political campaign or endorsement of any candidate, but an attempt to place available evidence before members of the public.
He said the foundation had documented its findings and would make the figures available during the workshop.
On the performance of the Tinubu administration, Nwonu acknowledged the economic challenges confronting Nigerians, including poverty and inflation, but said the foundation’s assessment would also consider government interventions, particularly in agriculture and youth empowerment.
He further said the organisation had examined concerns over alleged marginalisation of the South-East by assessing Federal Government projects and appointments in the region.
Nwonu explained that IYKON Global Foundation, established in 2009, has undertaken advocacy, humanitarian and governance-related activities, including collaborations with anti-corruption agencies and other institutions on transparency, security and good governance.
The foundation’s president reiterated its non-partisan position, stressing that while the organisation would continue to assess government performance, individual members retain their constitutional right to make political choices.
He said the upcoming workshop would bring together experts, professionals and resource persons to examine different aspects of governance and development.
Nwonu added that the foundation would continue to operate as a watchdog for good governance, with focus on accountability, transparency, human rights and improved public administration.
