
Nairobi 🇰🇪 has been selected to host the 2029 World Athletics Championships, making Kenya the first African country to host the prestigious global outdoor athletics championships.
The historic decision was announced by World Athletics following its Council meeting in Budapest, with Nairobi selected ahead of competing bids from London, Rome and Munich.
The 2029 championships will be staged at the Kasarani Stadium, which is currently undergoing renovations. Kenya has previously hosted major World Athletics events, including the 2017 World U18 Championships and 2021 World U20 Championships.
Meanwhile, Munich 🇩🇪 will host the 2031 edition, while Beijing 🇨🇳 is scheduled to host the 2027 championships.
