Former Real Madrid and Brazil star Marcelo could be set for a new role in French football, with the legendary left-back reportedly lined up as an ambassador for FC Nantes if businessman Paulo Tavares completes his proposed takeover of the club.
According to a report from But Football Club, Tavares’ takeover project includes plans to bring several high-profile figures into the Nantes structure, with Marcelo identified as a potential international ambassador.

The proposal is reportedly part of Tavares’ wider plan to increase FC Nantes’ international profile. Marcelo, who built a hugely successful career at Real Madrid and won numerous major trophies, would provide the club with a globally recognised football figure.

Tavares is currently working on a proposed purchase of FC Nantes from the Kita family. His project, reportedly backed by Phenix Sport Invest, has also been linked with several experienced figures from football, media and business.

However, Marcelo’s potential appointment remains conditional on the takeover being completed. The sale of the club has not yet been finalised, meaning the proposed structure could still change.

If the deal goes through, Marcelo’s arrival as an ambassador would represent one of the most high-profile elements of Tavares’ plans for the future of FC Nantes.
