Terem Moffi will fill in for the injured Victor Boniface in the Super Eagles team’s roster for the 2023 African Cup of Nations (AFCON), MUK TV has learned.
In an official statement, Super Eagles spokesman, Babafemi Raji stated, “Victor Boniface is out and Terem Moffi takes his place pending approval of CAF and concurrence of his club.”
Earlier, MUK TV reported that Boniface’s sidelining injury occurred during the team’s recent 2-0 loss against Guinea in a pre-AFCON match.
He is set to undergo medical treatment in Germany, facing an approximate six-week recovery period.
This season, Moffi has had exceptional performances with French Club, OGC Nice.
Despite his initial exclusion from the Super Eagles’ final squad, the 24-year-old has showcased a remarkable run for the team, netting four goals in 12 appearances for the three-time African champions.
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) now awaits approval from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to officially enlist Moffi in the AFCON roster.
