The Security Situation Room (SSR) has released a dedicated WhatsApp number for families of victims of the deadly Oluku petrol tanker fire incident to provide information and seek justice for their deceased relatives.

In a statement signed by its convener, Douglas Ogbankwa, Esq., the group urged affected families to submit the names and relevant details of their loved ones through its dedicated WhatsApp number, 09071441204.

The organisation disclosed that it was in contact with renowned human rights lawyer, Femi Falana, SAN, who had agreed to lead a legal team to pursue justice for families affected by the incident.

According to the SSR, the legal initiative is aimed at ensuring accountability and addressing the financial and emotional losses suffered by victims’ families.

The group expressed concern over recurring petrol tanker-related fires and the alleged failure to secure compensation for victims in previous incidents.

It argued that holding responsible parties accountable and ensuring appropriate compensation could help deter negligence and encourage petroleum tanker operators to adopt stronger safety measures.

The SSR also called on the federal, state and local governments to review and strengthen safety regulations governing the movement of fuel tankers and other vehicles transporting inflammable substances on Nigerian highways.

The organisation maintained that improved safety protocols, effective enforcement and accountability were necessary to reduce avoidable tanker related disasters and protect lives.

The group urged families of the victims to contact it through the designated WhatsApp number to support its efforts to establish the identities of affected persons and pursue appropriate legal action.
