Former CIA Director David Petraeus has said Russia’s military casualties in Ukraine have reached an estimated 1.5 million, combining those killed and wounded.

He compared the figure with American losses during World War II, arguing that Russia has suffered a greater number of casualties than the United States experienced throughout the entire conflict.

Petraeus warned that sustaining such losses could eventually leave Vladimir Putin struggling to find enough recruits to replenish his forces.

He also questioned the quality of Russia’s military training, claiming that many soldiers are sent into battle with inadequate preparation and effectively treated as “human cannon fodder”.
