Gadi Eisenkot has formally accepted a mandate from Israel’s president to form the country’s next government, acknowledging that political compromises will be unavoidable in the process.
Speaking after receiving the mandate, Eisenkot admitted that not all promises made during the political process could be fulfilled, stressing that cooperation and concessions would be necessary to reach an agreement.
“No one will be able to meet all the commitments they have given. We will all be required to compromise,” he said.
His comments come as he begins the task of securing sufficient political support to assemble a governing coalition and form Israel’s next administration.
