Plateau State Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, has swiftly enforced a 24-hour curfew in Mangu local government area, citing a deteriorating security situation following a reported attack in Sabon Gari on Monday night, resulting in an unspecified number of casualties.
In a statement released by the director of press and public affairs in the governor’s office, Gyang Bere, Governor Mutfwang made the decision after consulting with relevant security agencies. The directive restricts movement in the local government area, permitting only individuals on essential duties to operate until further notice.
The statement emphasized the importance of citizens, particularly Mangu LGA residents, adhering to the curfew and assisting security personnel by providing reliable information to restore peace and order.
Governor Mutfwang expressed concern that despite the government’s efforts to curb the activities of terrorist elements, some individuals persist in creating an insecure environment.
The governor extended sympathy to the families of the victims and the injured, assuring them of the government’s unwavering commitment to establishing lasting peace in the state.
He pledged to review the curfew as soon as the security situation improves, emphasizing the ongoing efforts to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens.
