Professor Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah, Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja (Uniabuja), has defended the institution’s lower rate of first-class graduates compared to other universities, attributing it to the rigorous academic standards upheld at Uniabuja.

Speaking at the 28th pre-convocation press briefing, Na’Allah emphasized the institution’s commitment to quality education, underscoring the efficiency of their portal system and the rigorous academic process involved in producing graduates.

Highlighting the upcoming convocation ceremony, Na’Allah revealed that 7,896 students would be participating, including 151 PhD recipients and 742 Masters and professional Masters graduates.

Among the graduating class, 41 students would receive First Class honors, with 1,845 achieving Second Class upper, 4,842 Second Class lower, 1,075 Third Class, and 50 with passes.

Na’Allah also noted the significant presence of distance learning and post-graduate diploma graduates, showcasing the institution’s diverse educational offerings.

Addressing the university’s broader vision, Na’Allah outlined initiatives aimed at fostering entrepreneurship among students, including the establishment of the University of Abuja Micro Finance Bank, approved by the Central Bank of Nigeria.
