The Lagos State Police, in a startling incident, have apprehended a man caught attempting to sell his company’s car to finance the relocation of his family to Ghana.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, confirmed the arrest to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday.
Hundeyin revealed that the State Criminal Investigation Department received information on January 16 about a suspected stolen Toyota Hilux vehicle.
Acting swiftly, a team of detectives initiated an investigation, leading them to Ilukogun village, situated on the boundary between Lagos State and Ogun.
“The suspect was arrested, and he confessed to having stolen the vehicle from his workplace, to sell and run away to Ghana with his family. Investigation is still in progress for possible arrest of other members of his gang,” stated Hundeyin.
The recovered vehicle, traced to one Arthur Benjamin in the village, is now in police custody as authorities delve into the details of the case.
