Jemima Shetima Balami, a Diploma Two Mass Communication student on industrial attachment with Adamawa State Television, Yola, has taken her own life.
The 24-year-old, who hailed from Garkida, Gombi Local Government Area, allegedly consumed a poisonous substance following her boyfriend’s announcement of ending their relationship.
Jemima, the sole daughter of her father, was found deceased at her residence in Vinikilang, a Riverside community near Yola.
The boyfriend, identified as a lecturer at Modibbo Adama University, Yola, played a pivotal role in the tragic turn of events.
Confirming the incident, Adamawa State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, stated, “The father of Jamima reported that she committed suicide by taking a deadly substance.”
The circumstances surrounding her death involve conflicting versions, with one suggesting a visit to her boyfriend, resulting in news of ending the relationship and triggering the distressing choice.
