In a distressing turn of events, bandits, having already received an N8.5 million ransom for the release of four out of 17 abducted individuals, including a nurse in Kawu, Bwari area council of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), are now demanding two brand new Bajaj motorcycles for the release of the remaining 11 victims.

The bandit attack took place in Kawu community on December 26, 2023, with 23 individuals initially abducted.

While four managed to escape, the fate of the remaining 17 took a dire turn.

Daily Trust reports that the bandits, expressing impatience over the delayed ransom, have now threatened to harm the remaining 11 hostages if their new demand for motorcycles is not met.

Bala Dantani, a family member of one of the victims, revealed that the ransom payment occurred in two installments. Initially, N5 million was raised and delivered to the bandits after they threatened to execute the captives two weeks prior.

Subsequently, an additional N3.8 million, along with food, drugs, and wines, was handed over on Tuesday after the bandit leader promised to release the victims.

However, the situation took a turn for the worse as the bandits, while negotiations were ongoing, demanded two motorcycles before agreeing to release the remaining hostages.
