Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen wasted no time reflecting on Galatasaray’s 1-0 loss to Kocaelispor on Sunday, immediately turning his attention to international duty with Nigeria ahead of the 2026 World Cup playoff against Gabon.
Dan Agyei’s first-half strike proved decisive for Kocaelispor, whilst Osimhen’s late equaliser was disallowed following a VAR review for offside against Gabriel Sara. The defeat marked a frustrating evening for the Super Lig champions.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Osimhen made his priorities clear.
“I have to travel. The game has happened, it has happened. I have moved on from that. Now I focus on my national team,” he said.
The striker remains determined to help Nigeria qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup after missing the 2022 edition.
By Sunday night, 10 Super Eagles players—Calvin Bassey, Alex Iwobi, Samuel Chukwueze, Tolu Arokodare, Olakunle Olusegun, Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, William Troost-Ekong, Benjamin Frederick and Chidozie Awaziem—had arrived at the team’s Rabat base as preparations intensify for Thursday’s clash with Gabon.
According to the team’s media officer, Promise Efoghe, the camp opened on Sunday at the Rive Hotel in the Moroccan capital, with members of the technical crew, led by head coach Eric Chelle, also on the ground.
