The drama over Oyo State’s 2027 governorship race has taken a sensational twist as Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS), accusing Primate Elijah Ayodele of demanding a staggering N150 million and luxury “spiritual items” to secure his political victory.
Adelabu, who has contested the Oyo governorship seat twice and is gearing up for another shot in 2027, alleged that the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church founder bombarded him with requests, prophecies, threats and financial demands after he refused to comply.
Inside the Petition: ‘Blackmail, Extortion, False Prophecies’
In the petition dated October 13, 2025, and signed by his media aide Bolaji Tunji, the minister accused Ayodele of unleashing damaging prophecies after his “spiritual intercession” demands were rejected.
TheCable reports that Ayodele allegedly instructed Adelabu to deliver 24 APC flags and a jaw-dropping list of “spiritual instruments,” including 1,000 trumpets/saxophones costing between N50 million and N130 million, depending on grade.
He repeatedly urged the minister to deliver the items by early April, at one point writing:
“Sir, I don’t do this, but because of the love I have for you.”
He also claimed God instructed him to support Adelabu’s political destiny and insisted the minister would become governor of Oyo State.
The cleric also encouraged the minister to “recite almu nasira 200 times,” adding that angels would “hear requests by 1am”.
But when Adelabu told him the items were unaffordable, the relationship soured — and Ayodele allegedly took his prophecies public.
Ayodele Fires Back From the Pulpit
In viral video clips, the cleric declared that the minister had failed spiritually and would not become governor, describing his messages as a “warning from God”.
He dared Adelabu to arrest or sue him.
Adelabu’s Stand: ‘I Won’t Buy Power With Fetish Practices’
In his DSS petition, the minister said he turned down Ayodele’s requests because he believes public service should not be tied to “spiritual manipulation or fetish practices.”
He accused the cleric of trying to tarnish his name after he refused to pay.
“Under this guise, he had on several occasions demanded huge sums of money and expensive spiritual items, cumulatively amounting to over N150 million… The minister had consistently declined his requests.”
The petition claims Ayodele’s prophecies became increasingly malicious, warning that he would fail because of his political association with the “Èmi Lòkan” slogan.
Adelabu asked the DSS to investigate the cleric, force him to retract his prophecies, apologise, and face legal consequences.
He also filed a similar petition with the Oyo State Police Command.
Confronted by TheCable, the cleric denied any wrongdoing and insisted Adelabu was the one who first sought him out.
Ayodele insisted he was never paid and that there was nothing illegal about setting a price for his services.
Ayodele Speaks: I Can N1billion If I Want
“I didn’t blackmail him. We didn’t have any transaction… I can sell my services for any amount. I can value it at N1 billion… It’s nobody’s business.”
He maintained that he is blessed, charitable, and not dependent on any politician.
“I’m big. I’m not poor. I take care of vulnerable people. I’m blessed in the Lord.”
