Abia 2027 governorship aspirant and frontline grassroots mobiliser, Sir Mascot Uzor Kalu, has delivered a powerful New Year message to Abians across the state’s 17 local government areas, calling for courage, unity, and action as Abia stands on the brink of a new beginning.
In the message, the former Abia State Chief of Staff saluted the resilience and hard work of ordinary citizens, traders, farmers, artisans, youths, women, and civil servants, describing them as the real strength of the state who have endured years of hardship without losing hope.
Kalu declared that the New Year must be a beginning of a decisive turning point for Abia, insisting that the era of ignoring grassroots voices must give way to leadership that listens, respects, and prioritises the people.
He acknowledged Abia’s vast human potential but lamented that many communities remain trapped in neglect, unemployment, and crumbling infrastructure.
According to him, “Abia urgently needs leadership that understands the daily struggles of the people, walks the dusty roads with them, listens in village squares, and delivers real, life-changing solutions.”
Describing the New Year as a season of awakening, Kalu urged Abians to reject despair and empty promises, stressing that the future of the state must no longer be left in the hands of detached leadership.
He made a strong call to the youth, charging them to remain focused, resilient, and courageous, while assuring them that their energy, creativity, and ideas are vital to rebuilding Abia from the ground up.
Kalu further emphasised that true governance is rooted in service, compassion, and accountability, not personal gain or distant leadership.
He pledged to deepen community engagement, consult widely, and stand firmly with the people in the fight for inclusive development, economic empowerment, and restored dignity.
Calling on traditional rulers, community leaders, market unions, youth groups, and women’s associations, the governorship hopeful urged unity and collective action, warning that no community must be left behind in Abia’s march toward a stronger, fairer, and more prosperous future.
He ended by wishing Abians a peaceful and prosperous New Year, declaring that the days ahead must usher in renewed hope, bold leadership, and people-driven governance.
Kalu charged citizens to remain vigilant, prayerful, and united, insisting that with collective resolve and the grace of God, Abia will rise again and reclaim its pride.
