The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has announced that the guided-missile destroyer USS Rafael Peralta (DDG 115) intercepted and enforced a U.S. blockade against a vessel attempting to reach an Iranian port.
According to CENTCOM, the operation took place on April 26, when the M/T Stream sought to sail toward an Iranian port in defiance of existing U.S. restrictions. The USS Rafael Peralta was deployed to enforce compliance, demonstrating Washington’s continued efforts to monitor and control maritime activity linked to Iran.
Officials said the interception highlights the U.S. Navy’s ongoing role in maintaining security and enforcing sanctions in strategic waterways across the region.
The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer is equipped with advanced missile systems and surveillance capabilities, enabling it to carry out high-stakes maritime operations.
While further details about the vessel and its cargo have not been disclosed, the incident underscores escalating tensions surrounding Iran and ongoing enforcement of U.S. policies aimed at curbing its economic and maritime activities.
