The National Industrial Court in Awka has ruled in favour of the Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSITF), affirming that the Anambra State Investment Promotion and Protection Agency (ANSIPPA) must comply with the Employees’ Compensation Act, 2010.

The court held that ANSIPPA qualifies as an employer under the law and is therefore required to make statutory contributions, maintain payroll records, and comply with employee compensation regulations. It also authorized NSITF officials to assess the agency’s level of compliance and determine any outstanding liabilities.

In addition, the court awarded N500,000 in litigation costs against ANSIPPA. The judgment is being hailed as a major boost for workers’ welfare and the enforcement of labour protection laws across Nigeria.
