Students from 20 schools across Enugu and Nsukka have planted 400 trees to mark World Environment Day 2026 and promote environmental sustainability.
The tree-planting exercise was part of the “Rooted in Action: Growing Green Generation” climate education campaign, organized by the Enugu State Government in collaboration with key partners, including UNICEF and the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change.
Speaking at the event, government officials emphasized the importance of climate education and youth involvement in environmental protection. Students also participated in awareness sessions on climate change, conservation, and sustainable living.
Organizers described the newly planted trees as symbols of hope, resilience, and a commitment to building a greener and more sustainable future for Enugu State
