The Awka Capital Territory Development Authority (ACTDA) has commenced evening and night enforcement operations aimed at improving environmental sanitation, urban order and compliance with development regulations across the Anambra State capital.

The inaugural exercise, conducted on Thursday evening, covered key areas including Aroma Junction, Regina Caeli, Temp Site and Kwata Junction.

Speaking during the operation, ACTDA officials said the initiative is designed to curb activities that undermine the city’s environmental, aesthetic and developmental standards, particularly illegal trading and other forms of non-compliance.

The agency noted that the night patrols will become a regular exercise as part of efforts to maintain a cleaner, safer and better-organised capital city in line with the state’s urban renewal programme.

ACTDA added that the operation, approved by the Managing Director, Dr. Ossy Onuko, will complement ongoing measures to promote public safety, environmental sustainability and orderly urban development across Awka.
