The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration of weakening democratic institutions, disregarding the rule of law, and undermining the principle of separation of powers in the state.

In a Democracy Day statement issued by its spokesperson, Lancelot Obiaku, the party alleged that the administration has failed to uphold key democratic values, citing concerns over local government administration, judicial independence, accountability, and transparency in governance.

The PDP claimed that local governments have been denied full autonomy and adequate resources, while also criticising the state’s handling of judicial appointments and public contract awards.

The opposition party further alleged that the administration’s approach to governance has slowed grassroots development and weakened public confidence in democratic institutions.

While extending Democracy Day greetings to Nigerians, the PDP urged citizens to remain committed to democratic ideals and expressed optimism that better governance and stronger institutions would emerge in the future.
