The Senate of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), has elected Professor Princewill Chukwudi Ogbonna as the institution’s Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research and Development.
Professor Ogbonna emerged successful during the university’s 261st Regular Senate Meeting held on June 11, 2026.
His appointment, which is subject to ratification by the University’s Governing Council, will be for an initial tenure of two years.
A distinguished alumnus of MOUAU, Prof. Ogbonna currently serves as Dean of the College of Natural Resources and Environmental Management (CNREM). He has previously held several strategic positions within the institution, including Acting Director of the Directorate of University Advancement and Acting Head of the Department of Environmental Management and Toxicology.
The appointment is expected to strengthen the university’s research, innovation and development agenda as it continues to advance academic excellence and institutional growth.
