The Spiritual Head of Soul Revival Outreach, Nnewi, in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State, Prophet Ikechukwu Uzukwu, has criticized the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, over his recent comments on the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Reacting to remarks reportedly made by Pastor Adeboye during an engagement in Washington, D.C., where he stated that President Tinubu is doing his best to address Nigeria’s security challenges, Prophet Uzukwu described the comments as an attempt to defend what he called the failures of the current administration.
The cleric expressed disappointment that Pastor Adeboye, whom he described as one of Nigeria’s most respected Christian leaders, chose to defend the Federal Government instead of speaking about what he termed the harsh realities facing Nigerians.
According to Prophet Uzukwu, the country is grappling with worsening insecurity, economic hardship and other challenges, insisting that the President, as Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, bears ultimate responsibility for the nation’s security situation.
“It would have been better for Pastor Adeboye to remain silent if he was not prepared to tell the international community the true state of affairs in Nigeria,” he said.
He further argued that President Tinubu should be held accountable for the successes and failures of his administration, adding that public office comes with responsibility.
Prophet Uzukwu also questioned whether Pastor Adeboye would maintain the same position if members of his own family had been directly affected by insecurity.
The Anambra-based cleric further accused the RCCG General Overseer of taking a different stance from the one he adopted during the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, recalling that Pastor Adeboye participated in protests against fuel price increases and insecurity at the time.
He alleged that some influential religious leaders contributed to the emergence of the current administration and should now speak truthfully about the country’s challenges rather than defend the government.
Pastor Adeboye has not publicly responded to Prophet Uzukwu’s remarks.
