The Federal Government has launched the South-East phase of the Renewed Hope Farm Input Support Programme (FISP), distributing 80,640 bags of fertiliser to 20,160 registered smallholder farmers across Imo, Enugu, Anambra and Ebonyi states.
The intervention, implemented by the National Agricultural Development Fund (NADF), was flagged off in Owerri and is aimed at boosting food production, supporting smallholder farmers and strengthening food security ahead of the 2026 wet farming season.
Speaking at the launch, the Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of NADF, Mohammed Ibrahim, represented by Mr. Ernest Ihedigbo, said the programme would bridge critical farm input gaps, improve agricultural productivity and support indigenous fertiliser production.
Representing the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Abubakar Kyari, officials described the initiative as a strategic investment towards achieving food security and reducing production costs for farmers.
The All Farmers Association of Nigeria also commended the programme, noting that timely access to quality farm inputs would increase crop yields, improve farmers’ incomes and promote transparency in the distribution process.
The Renewed Hope Farm Input Support Programme is one of the Federal Government’s flagship agricultural interventions aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods, stimulating local fertiliser production and advancing Nigeria’s food security goals.
