The Enugu State Forest Guard has introduced a comprehensive operational policy aimed at strengthening discipline, professionalism and corporate identity across the Corps.

The new directive, contained in Headquarters Standing Operational Order No. 178/2026, was announced by the Commander of the Enugu State Forest Guard, Dr. Akinbayo Olasoji, in Enugu.

According to the Commander, the reforms align with Governor Peter Mbah’s vision of building a disciplined, intelligence-driven and technology-enabled security architecture capable of protecting lives, property, forests and other critical assets across the state.

A statement issued by the Corps’ Assistant Superintendent, Geraldine Chiagozie, said the policy establishes uniform standards covering dress code, operational turnout, approved accoutrements, personal grooming, discipline and professional appearance for all officers and operatives.

The new order also specifies approved uniforms for designated days, operational attire for bush-combing exercises and field operations, standards for rank insignia, footwear and other official accessories, while introducing distinct dress codes for administrative officers and the Provost Unit.

The directive prohibits the use of unauthorized uniforms, civilian clothing during official assignments without approval, unauthorized footwear and the display of improvised wooden weapons while on duty.

It further mandates that only uniforms and equipment approved by the Forest Guard Headquarters be used during official operations.

To ensure compliance, Directors, Senatorial and Zonal Commanders, Heads of Departments, Unit Commanders and Sector Officers have been directed to conduct regular inspections before patrols, field operations, ceremonial activities and media engagements, while the Provost Unit will oversee enforcement across all commands.

Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Dr. Olasoji described professional appearance as a key pillar of discipline and public confidence.

He said the new operational order is intended to strengthen institutional culture, reinforce accountability and project a professional image that reflects the values of the Enugu State Government.

The Commander reaffirmed the Corps’ commitment to operational excellence, intelligence-led security operations, respect for the rule of law and collaboration with communities and other security agencies in promoting peace and public safety across Enugu State.

The Standing Operational Order takes immediate effect, with all commands directed to ensure full compliance.
