The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has expressed confidence in its prospects for the 2027 general elections, citing its expanding grassroots structures, growing coalition and increasing public support across the country.
Speaking during an interview on ARISE News, the party’s Abia State House of Assembly candidate, Mrs. Francess Olisa Ogbonnaya, said the ADC has emerged as a formidable political platform by attracting members from various political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Labour Party (LP), All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) and others.
She described the coalition as a movement of politicians committed to offering Nigerians a credible alternative ahead of the 2027 elections.
Ogbonnaya stated that the party’s greatest strength lies in its extensive grassroots network, disclosing that the ADC has established structures down to the polling-unit level through its 30-man polling-unit leadership system.
She announced that the party would begin a statewide mobilisation tour of Abia’s 17 local government areas from July 25 to engage residents, present its candidates and outline its vision for the state.
According to her, the ADC has fielded candidates for all State House of Assembly constituencies, House of Representatives seats and other elective positions across Abia, demonstrating its readiness for the forthcoming elections.
Ogbonnaya also reaffirmed the party’s commitment to inclusive politics, noting that the ADC has implemented a 35 per cent gender affirmative policy and reduced nomination fees for women and persons with disabilities.
She pledged that if elected, she would champion legislation to promote entrepreneurship, empower women and youths, strengthen rural development and provide effective legislative oversight to ensure good governance and accountability.
