Imo State Governor and Chairman of the South-East Governors’ Forum, Senator Hope Uzodimma, says the five governors of the South-East have resolved to support the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
Speaking during a meeting with the Imo State Elders Council and traditional rulers in Owerri, Governor Uzodimma said the decision followed a review of the Federal Government’s developmental projects and policies in the South-East.
According to him, the governors believe the region has benefited significantly from the Tinubu administration through infrastructure development and economic initiatives, including the establishment of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), rehabilitation of the Port Harcourt–Aba rail line, reconstruction of the Eastern Rail Corridor, and ongoing federal road projects across the zone.
Uzodimma stated that the South-East governors would soon pay a joint visit to President Tinubu to further strengthen collaboration with the Federal Government.
He maintained that the people of the South-East would continue to support the administration based on what he described as visible developmental projects rather than political sentiments.
On Imo State, the governor urged traditional rulers and elders to support the implementation of the state’s Charter of Equity, describing it as a vital framework for promoting fairness, political stability and peaceful power rotation.
He insisted that his successor must emerge in line with the Charter of Equity and possess the integrity, competence and commitment needed to sustain the developmental strides recorded by his administration.
Governor Uzodimma also called for increased investment in skills acquisition and vocational education as part of efforts to reduce unemployment, curb crime and promote sustainable economic growth in Imo State.
