The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Abia State, Kelechi Anosike, has expressed confidence that the party will reclaim power in the 2027 governorship election.

Anosike made the declaration during a stakeholders’ meeting in Umuahia, where he formally unveiled the State Chairman of the PDP, Abraham Amah, as his running mate for the 2027 governorship race.

The PDP flag bearer said the party was fully focused on securing victory, noting that its renewed activities have repositioned it as a major political force in the state.

According to him, the choice of Amah followed extensive consultations with party leaders and stakeholders across the state.

Anosike said he considered Amah’s administrative competence, commitment to the party and the strategic importance of the nomination before settling on him as his deputy governorship candidate.

He added that the joint ticket was designed to promote inclusiveness across the state’s three senatorial zones, explaining that while he hails from Abia Central and his running mate is from Abia North, the Speakership of the Abia State House of Assembly would be zoned to Abia South.

The PDP governorship candidate expressed optimism that the party’s ticket would restore the PDP to Government House and usher in a new chapter for the state.

In his acceptance speech, Abraham Amah thanked the party leadership and Anosike for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work closely with the governorship candidate and other party stakeholders to secure victory for the PDP in the 2027 general election.
