Nollywood actress Doris Ogala has declared her intention to contest the 2027 Abia State governorship election, describing her ambition as a “divine mandate” to serve the people and transform the state.
Ogala made the declaration during an appearance on the Clarity Zone podcast, where she expressed confidence that she would emerge as the next governor of Abia State.
According to the actress, her decision to join the race was driven by what she described as a divine calling to improve the welfare of Abia residents.
“The call to come and save my people is a divine mandate. I will be the next governor of Abia State, and nothing is going to stop it,” she said.
Explaining the basis for her confidence, Ogala claimed that she was more qualified than other potential contenders in the race.
“I am so sure, and I know it, because I’m better than all of them,” she stated.
The actress also criticised aspects of the administration of Governor Alex Otti, particularly claims relating to electricity supply and infrastructure development in the state.
Ogala disputed claims that Abia residents currently enjoy 24-hour electricity, insisting that the reality on the ground was different.
“There is no 24-hour light in Abia,” she said.
She also challenged claims concerning the development of the Ariaria International Market in Aba, arguing that the A-Line section of the market was constructed during the administration of former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
“I dare the governor to challenge me. He didn’t build Ariaria. The only place built in Ariaria is A-Line, and it was built by Ikpeazu,” Ogala alleged.
She identified John Okiyi as the commissioner responsible for the project at the time, adding that her knowledge of the development was based on her involvement in the previous administration.
Ogala’s declaration adds another potential aspirant to the political landscape ahead of the 2027 Abia governorship election.
However, she did not disclose the political platform under which she intends to pursue her governorship ambition.
