A disturbing sanitation situation has been uncovered at No. 16 Ibadan Street, Aba, where more than 100 bags reportedly containing human excreta were discovered within the premises.

The discovery, which has raised serious public health concerns, reportedly included four basins containing human waste found along a corridor of the compound.

Authorities also reportedly discovered a sewage tank inside one of the downstairs rooms, located directly beneath a bed where occupants were said to sleep.

The condition of the premises has been described as a serious environmental and sanitation concern, with authorities stressing the dangers posed by improper disposal and storage of human waste.

In response, the premises was sealed on August 18, 2026, pursuant to a court order, pending the implementation of necessary corrective measures.

The authorities said the property would only be reopened after the required sanitation and environmental conditions had been met.

The incident has renewed concerns over proper waste disposal and sanitation practices in densely populated areas, with residents urged to comply with environmental health regulations to prevent the spread of diseases and protect public health.
