Civil society organisation, Tracka, has called on the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) to investigate the construction and equipping of a ₦296.4 million ICT/Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centre at Claretian University, Imo State.

According to Tracka, the facility, equipped with 40 HP laptops, was commissioned in November 2025 at the private university under a constituency project facilitated by Senator Ezenwa Onyewuchi, representing Imo East Senatorial District.

The organisation raised concerns over the use of public funds to execute the project within a private institution, questioning the justification for its location amid infrastructure challenges reportedly affecting public schools and other public facilities across the state.

Tracka said the project raised important accountability questions regarding the deployment of public resources and called for a comprehensive investigation into its procurement process, funding, contract award and implementation.

The group also urged the anti-graft agencies to determine the beneficiaries of the facility and establish why a publicly funded project was sited in a private university.

“We call on the ICPC and EFCC to investigate the project, including its procurement process, funding source, contract award, implementation, beneficiaries, and justification for locating a publicly funded facility in a private institution,” Tracka said.

The organisation stressed that its concerns were focused on transparency, accountability and the proper utilisation of public funds, particularly for projects involving substantial government expenditure.

Tracka further called for clarification on how the project was approved, awarded and implemented, urging relevant authorities to ensure that constituency projects comply with applicable procurement and financial management regulations.

The organisation maintained that public resources should be deployed transparently and in ways that serve the public interest.
