The Katsina State Command of the Nigerian Customs Service (NCS), in a move echoing President Bola Tinubu’s directive, has handed over six trucks and their cargoes to their rightful owners, signaling a significant shift in food security policy.
These trucks, previously seized at the Kongolam Border Patrol Checkpoint in Mai-Adua Local Government Area, were released as part of the presidential mandate to alleviate citizens’ hardship and ensure food security.
Customs officials, led by Katsina State Customs Area Comptroller Muhammad Umar, emphasized their commitment to monitoring the trucks closely, preventing any further smuggling attempts.
Amidst this decisive action, Chairman of the State Taskforce Committee on Food Security and Promotion, Jabiru Abdullahi Tsauri, issued a stern warning to smugglers and truck owners, stressing the importance of adhering to the presidential directive by selling the grains exclusively within Nigeria.
With local authorities poised to oversee the sale of these grains, the public is urged to play an active role in reporting any smuggling activities, fostering a united front in safeguarding the nation’s food reserves.
