A stray dog found wandering for food in a forest in Abagana, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State, in a heartwarming turn of events, came across an abandoned baby boy.
The compassionate dog carried the infant across a busy road and placed him in a public area, seemingly urging passersby to intervene and provide care for the child.
The baby, discovered in a plastic bag, appeared stable despite being left alone in the forest for approximately two days before the dog’s timely intervention.
A video circulating online corroborates the story, showing local midwives cleaning the baby while expressing disdain for the perpetrators of such a cruel act.
In the video, the women and a male voice question the morality of carrying a child for nine months only to abandon them shortly after birth.
Grateful for the dog’s intervention, they urge those tempted to abandon infants to seek help from caring individuals rather than resorting to such callous actions.
As of now, the police have yet to issue a statement on the matter, and attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in Anambra, Tochukwu Ikenga, have been unsuccessful.
