President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his commitment on Wednesday to build a nation that all Nigerians will be proud of, reiterating the administration’s commitment to infrastructural development as a key element of his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Speaking in Abuja during the inauguration of the extension of the Inner Southern Expressway, also known as the Goodluck Ebele Jonathan Expressway, Tinubu, represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima, highlighted the project as a significant step toward bridging the gap between rural and urban areas, The Punch reported.
“This road symbolizes connectivity, accessibility, and opportunity,” Tinubu stated. “It signifies our unwavering determination to ensure development reaches every corner of our great nation.”
He assured that his administration would continue to prioritize infrastructural development, with many more strategic projects planned for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
“In the coming months and years, we will continue to prioritize infrastructural development as a cornerstone of our Renewed Hope Agenda. We remain committed to delivering on our promises, empowering our people, and building a nation that we can all be proud of,” he said.
Shettima praised FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and his team for their dedication, calling Wike “one of the best appointments ever made in the history of the current democratic dispensation in this country.”
Wike, in his remarks, outlined other completed projects in the first year of the Tinubu administration, including the rehabilitation of the National Assembly, the Federal Secretariat, and resurfacing of 170km of interconnecting roads across the FCT.
The ISEX project, initially awarded in January 2010 at a cost of N17 billion and revised to N18 billion in 2023, is set to continue with a second phase awarded to Messrs CGC Construction Limited for N91 billion, featuring “not less than 10 bridges.”
