Businessman and political heavyweight, Chief Ako Obioma, has detonated what many are describing as a political bombshell, accusing Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, of betrayal, economic persecution, contract hijack, and a calculated refusal to honour court-acknowledged debts.

In an emotionally charged outburst, Obioma asserted that the Labour Party government in Abia was built on secret political agreements and private sacrifices by a few power brokers who have now been discarded, blacklisted, and allegedly destroyed by the same system they helped create.

According to him, the crisis began after he wrote an open letter insisting that the Abia Government House was never a rented property.

Obioma alleged that he later overheard a phone conversation in which Governor Otti vowed never to forgive him for making that revelation public.

He said that single disclosure stopped him from “fighting back” at the time, adding that a recent visit by Abia’s first Military Administrator, Air Vice Marshal Frank Ajobena (rtd), has now vindicated him.

He alleged that the fallout was swift and brutal, with his companies were blacklisted, ongoing contracts terminated, and the Umuopara Ring Road project revoked and allegedly re-awarded to a firm linked to his own brother.

He said the ordeal tore his family apart but insisted he has no regrets.

“I spoke the truth and paid the highest price,” he said.

In what has now snowballed into a full-blown political revelation, Obioma declared that no Labour Party candidate in Abia, including Governor Otti, emerged without his consent or that of his brother.

He claimed all party tickets were sealed through pre-election agreements long before Peter Obi joined the party.

He said this explains why elected officials and party chieftains, including some of Otti’s aides, hosted a thank-you party at his residence after the election, praising him for mobilising PDP structures to deliver victory for the Labour Party.

He further alleged that the decisive wins in Umuahia North and South that secured Otti’s governorship were delivered by his political machinery, only for the same administration to later turn against those who made it possible.

Obioma also accused his elder brother, Chief Acho Obioma, Otti’s Campaign Director-General, of negotiating binding political agreements on the Governor’s behalf, agreements he claimed have now been dumped.

He said attempts to formally remind the Governor were met with a “clinical and professionally drafted” response allegedly signed by his own brother, raising deep suspicions of betrayal and manipulation at the highest level.

Court Judgments Ignored, Debts Withheld

In one of his gravest allegations, Obioma claimed Governor Otti openly vowed never to pay court-affirmed debts owed to his companies, even if the matter dragged to the Supreme Court.

He alleged that despite arbitration awards, court judgments, and garnishee orders, payments have been deliberately stalled out of vendetta for exposing the true status of the Government House.

Obioma said he has forgiven the Governor, his brothers, and all involved, not out of reconciliation, but in obedience to a directive from the Archbishop of the Methodist Church, Nigeria, Most Rev. Dr. Raphael Opoko.

“I have forgiven them, but a worker must be paid his wages,” he said.

He warned that if any of his claims are denied, he is ready to release documentary and video evidence to back them up.

With allegations of betrayal, contract hijack, family sabotage, ignored court orders, and moral collapse, Obioma’s revelations threaten to rattle the Labour Party in Abia State and could set the stage for an unforgiven political payback ahead of 2027.
