It was a high-profile night visit that set tongues wagging as Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, personally visited billionaire businessman and nightlife mogul, Obi Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana, to present him with his appointment as South-East Coordinator of the City Boy Movement.
The Anambra-born entrepreneur broke the news on Tuesday via his official Instagram page, revealing that Seyi Tinubu arrived his residence on Monday night, where both men engaged in deep conversations on national issues and the future of Nigeria.
“Last night, my long-time friend and brother, Seyi Tinubu, paid me a visit at my home. We held great conversations about everything,” he stated.
As reactions poured in from across social media, Obi Cubana addressed the controversy head-on, defending his decision to accept the appointment and stressing that progress cannot be achieved from the sidelines.
“I’m fully aware of the varied reactions it has sparked. My belief remains firm: lasting change comes from constructive engagement, not standing apart,” he said.
The billionaire socialite was quick to assure Nigerians that his values remain intact, noting that the new role would not erode his commitment to integrity, community development, and responsible leadership.
“I’ve learned that influence is limited from the outside—so yes, here we are! I am a City Boy through and through, inside and out,” he declared.
Obi Cubana described President Bola Tinubu as “a City Boy and a man of commerce,” vowing to pursue inclusiveness and unity in his new role within the movement.
“All of us need all of us in order to achieve our national aspirations, and I am committed to carrying every Nigerian along in all that I do,” he added.
He called for tolerance and respect for differing opinions, urging Nigerians to focus on value creation rather than division.
“Let’s respect differing views, keep conversations vibrant, and stay focused on building real value. The moment is now—we move!” he stated.
Obi Cubana concluded by thanking supporters for their goodwill, pledging to work towards a more inclusive and prosperous Nigeria as he takes on his new political assignment.
