Former First Lady of Ondo State, Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu, has emerged as the Labour Party (LP) candidate for Owerri Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Receiving her Certificate of Return, Anyanwu-Akeredolu expressed gratitude to the party leadership and members for entrusting her with the mandate, describing her emergence as both an honour and a call to greater service.
She said her candidacy offers a fresh opportunity to engage directly with the people of Owerri Federal Constituency and champion solutions to challenges affecting local communities through effective legislative representation.
The Labour Party flag bearer explained that her decision to step down from the Imo East Senatorial race was made after extensive consultations with party stakeholders, stressing that the move was aimed at strengthening unity within the party and improving its electoral prospects in 2027.

Anyanwu-Akeredolu emphasized the importance of internal cohesion and teamwork, noting that collective efforts would be crucial to the party’s success in the upcoming elections.
Outlining her priorities, she pledged to focus on youth empowerment, job creation, digital skills development, and policies that would improve the welfare and economic opportunities of constituents.
